We are seeking a certified Red Seal Tool & Die Technician to join our team and help us continue delivering top-tier solutions to our customers.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Red Seal Tool & Die Technician with proven expertise in mechanical and hydraulic press set-up and supervisory/lead hand responsibilities. This role combines hands-on technical tooling expertise with leadership over a production team, ensuring smooth production operations, safety compliance, and team development.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Duties:

  • Set up and adjust mechanical and hydraulic presses, dies, and tooling for production runs.
  • Inspect, maintain, and aid in repairing dies to ensure quality and reliability.
  • Ability to perform precision machining, fit and assembly of die components.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve tooling and press issues to minimize production downtime.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on tooling and press equipment.
  • Ensure tooling changes and press set-ups meet production requirements for safety, efficiency, and quality.

Supervisor / Lead Hand Duties:

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and direction to tooling and press operators.
  • Assign work priorities, delegate tasks, and ensure production schedules are met.
  • Train, mentor, and coach team members on mechanical and hydraulic press set-up, safety, and best practices.
  • Conduct regular walk-throughs to monitor tooling, press operations, and employee performance.
  • Enforce company policies, safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying inefficiencies and recommending corrective actions.
  • Act as the first point of contact for technical or operational issues on the floor.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, and quality assurance regarding tooling performance and production needs.
  • Maintain accurate shift reports and records of tooling changes, downtime, and repairs.
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications:

● Red Seal Journeyperson Tool & Die Maker certification (required).
● 5+ years of experience in tool & die making with mechanical and hydraulic press set-up.
● Prior experience as a Lead Hand or Supervisor in a tooling or production environment
is a strong asset.
● Strong knowledge of press systems and safe press operation.
● Knowledge of Jig and Fixture design is an asset.
● Proven leadership, team-building, and coaching skills.
● Ability to interpret technical drawings and GD&T.
● Familiarity with CNC machining and CAD/CAM software is considered an asset.
● Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and organizational skills.
● Strong commitment to quality, efficiency, and workplace safety.

  • Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, oils, and metalworking equipment.
  • PPE (personal protective equipment) provided and required.
  • Primarily day shift, with flexibility for overtime or alternate shifts as required.
