Warranty Policy
1.0 Warranty Terms
Canadian Tool & Die Ltd (CTD) warrants its manufactured products against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of eighteen (18) months from the date of manufacture or twelve (12) months from the date of sale, whichever occurs first. If CTD receives notice of such defects during the warranty period, CTD at its option, will either repair or replace products that prove to be defective. CTD’s maximum liability will be the original sale purchase price paid by the customer. CTD manufactures its parts and components that are new in accordance with industry standard practices.
2.0 Exclusions & Voided Warranty
The above warranty shall not apply to defects or damages resulting from incorrect, accidental, improper or inadequate use of the product by the customer, mishandling, tampering within the field and operating outside the normal specification of the product. CTD shall not provide any cost of transportation, installation, removal or repairs, and any contingent or resulting loss or damage that may have occurred as a result of defects in material & workmanship only. The warranty does not apply if the product(s) has been disassembled or damaged through misuse, accident, modifications, or unauthorized repair.
3.0 Return Procedure
After authorization from CTD., such parts are to be returned “Prepaid” to CTD, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, for inspection.
4.0 Warranty Repair Terms & Procedures
CTD will test (if needed), replace or repair any products free of charge, including parts and labor if the product is under warranty within the terms outlined in the warranty agreement.
The customer shall:
- a) Provide proof of the product’s purchase date.
- b) Provide reasons for the warranty requests supported by product pictures if needed.
- c) Be responsible for shipping charges to send defective parts under warranty to CTD.
- d) Parts found to be defective will be replaced at no charge and either shipped back prepaid or with other goods, or full credit will be allowed, at CTD’s option.
- e) If requested, extra charges associated with expedited shipping will be the responsibility of the customer.
5.0 Non-Warranty Repair Terms & Charges
CTD will repair any product that does not meet the terms of warranty if requested by the customer.
5.1 Non-warranty repair terms are as follows:
- a) If the product is out of warranty, at customer’s request, CTD will test and repair the product(s).
- b) Customers will be provided with an estimate by CTD notifying them of the total charges prior to commencing with the repair.
- c) All parts must be returned for testing as a complete unit and the customer is responsible for all shipping charges both to and from CTD and may use their own carrier of choice.
- d) CTD will not accept responsibility for shipment after it has left it’s facility.
- e) The customer is responsible for and agrees to pay, all parts and labor costs associated with the repair.
5.2 Non-Warranty Repair Charges:
Total repair charges (per part) for a non-warranty repairs consists of the following:
- a) Cost of any replacement parts needed to repair the defect.
- b) Labor cost billed per hour. Charges include troubleshooting, repair time, product testing and packaging.
- c) All shipping and handling costs are the responsibility of the customer for non-warranty repairs.
6.0 Policy Notes
6.1 Duration of Repair:
The turn-around time of a particular repair is dependent upon circumstances such as product type, the quantity of the parts being reworked and the nature of the problem.
6.2 Repair Warranty:
CTD guarantees all of its repaired parts on non-warranty items, for 90 days from the day that the repaired part is shipped back to the customer. If the original problem described was not resolved or re-occurs within the 90-day period, CTD will repair the part for free of labor charges but, additional charges on material may apply unless parts used to affect the repair are again deemed defective.
6.3 Superseded Warranty:
This warranty document supersedes all other customer/supplier warranties.
